FIX THE ROOT

There are different ways to interpret the root. We are able to see how important the root of something is. Yet, we can also establish evidence and relevance of how it ties to Christ.

Jesus is the Rock. He is the Foundation. The Root. We need to be rooted and built up in Him. Colossians 2:7

As I was in prayer the other day, Jesus spoke to me and said, “You must be rooted in Me. We are in a crucial time that your foundation needs to be strong in me. Stay close to Me in My Word. For I am your foundation.”

Root definition:

root1

/ro͞ot/

1.

the part of a plant which attaches it to the ground or to a support, typically underground, conveying water and nourishment to the rest of the plant via numerous branches and fibers.

2.

the basic cause, source, or origin of something.

The ROOT

The word Root and being Rooted has come up for me a lot in the past week. Now, God wants me to share some words with you.

God works in ways that are so mysterious, yet inspiring. He can be very funny in the way He wants or needs to get a point across to you. Especially if He wants to get your attention.

I had been seeing and hearing the word Root in random places. Every time I heard or saw it; it would make me step back and think for a moment on the importance of being rooted in Christ. This week, I received a piece of mail that was from a place called Root Insurance. I had never heard of them before. When I saw it, the word Root was so big and pronounced on the envelope. I laughed because I know that was God getting my attention on the importance of this. Side note: I am in no way speaking on behalf of this company. There is no affiliation with them. I am just using it as an example of what God was using to get my attention.

Root Definition No. 1

To go along with root definition no. 1, we look at it as a plant or a tree that has developed deep roots in the ground. They are deeply nourished with food and water to thrive and survive. The plants and trees are so deeply rooted into their soil foundation, that they can’t just be pushed over or pulled out. There would need to be something really large or great to try and take it out. Sometimes you will see trees that have been affected in wild storms. They become uprooted and fall to the ground. However, those trees, even though they were uprooted, are still attached to its roots because that was its foundation.

It works the same way with Christ. It is important to be rooted in Christ because it establishes a firm foundation in Him. When you have built your faith and trust in Him, when you believe that He died on the cross for your sins, and you make Him your Lord and Savior, you start to become rooted to the source. The roots grow deeper by reading His word, praying, worshipping, focusing on Him, and having a relationship with Him. When we focus on Him, the other things in the outside world that could try to distract us, will not overtake what we have built up in Him.

Stay Rooted

If you are not rooted, you will feel unstable and unsure. Like you are just flopping around in the wind without something strong holding you down. Christ is our strength and our root. Our firm foundation. Allow Him to anchor you down and surrender to Him with everything you’ve got.

We need to read His word. Not only read it, but we need to apply it to our lives which establishes a deeper root within Him. He is the ONLY way.

Matthew 7:24-27

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

Root Definition No. 2

In reference to root definition no. 2, it is the basic cause or origin of something. Here is an example of a real-life scenario that happened with me. God so graciously revealed to me what was going on.

Just yesterday, we had a plumbing issue at my house. We were having a problem with the water going down the drain in the tub. This would come up as an issue for us every once in a while, and we were always able to fix it. Or so we thought. But, this time, no matter what we did to try and free it up to allow it to drain, the water would not go down. It would trickle down slowly, but then end up coming back up.

Because of this one area, it also caused issues with the rest of the plumbing in our house. This wasn’t something that we were versed enough in to fix on our own, so we needed to call a plumber. The plumber came, took a look at the pipes, and knew exactly what the issue was and where. There was a clog right in the middle of the pipes that was creating a backup. He knew this because these are the types of things he deals with on a daily basis. He has knowledge and foundation in what he does as his career.

Fix It At The Root

This clog in the pipe allowed things to stop and back up. I heard God say; “You’ve got to fix it at the root. Masking the problem only lasts for so long. The root needs to be fixed.”

For so long, we were just masking the problem temporarily. Thinking we were fixing it. The reality was, there was a bigger issue building, and that needed to be fixed at the root. The clog was the culprit. Not only did it cause an issue in the pipes to stop everything up, but this also spiritually can clog things in our minds and bodies. Our home that we live in, our environment, has so much to do with how we feel. I never really understood this before until this past year.

Once that clog was fixed at the root, the pathways were cleared, and the water drained, I immediately felt such a release in my spirit. It was like this heaviness just lifted off me. I mentioned it to my daughter, and she said that she felt the same way.

There is a Bible verse that says:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

On the physical side, this looked like just a clogged pipe. But, on the spiritual side, it was so much more. When something like this happens, it can cause stagnancy, delay, blocking, hindrance, heaviness, an overall feeling of being stuck. This all made so much sense to me. This was why I felt a big release off me as soon as the clog was fixed. It may sound silly, and you might say that’s ridiculous it was literally just a clogged pipe. It looks to be that way in the physical world, yes. But ask God for confirmation, and to look with the spiritual eyes and you will see.

This Is Spiritual

Our homes, our roots, our foundations are so much more than a physical thing. We battle against spiritual principalities in darkness on the daily. I’m not saying that if you are feeling blocked or heaviness that you have a clogged pipe in your home. You could, but there are so many other reasons as to why one could be feeling stagnant. For me, this was an issue, and it now feels cleared. Ask God to help you see what it is that could be hindering you. He will show you.

This was something that I had been praying about for a while. I had cried out to God and asked Him why I was feeling blocked. It was very difficult feeling stuck in the same place. No matter how many times I would try to do something, I just kept getting set back. It was extremely frustrating. But, through this pipe issue, He released that off me. Anything is possible with God.

Fully Surrender

We need to learn to trust Him. If we don’t trust Him, then we don’t have faith in Him. And if we don’t have faith in Him, then something is missing that we need to fix.

In order to get to the root of the problem, we need to figure out where the disconnect is coming in. We could be only partially in with Jesus, and still have one foot stuck in the world. Or, we are trying our hardest to be all in, but something keeps holding us back. We just need to fully surrender to Him, and give it ALL to Him. That is ultimately what He wants; our full surrender. He can work on us, and heal us, and bring us on the right path that He has for us. But, we must learn to trust Him. Give it all to Him. He will fix us, and help us stay rooted in Him and His love for us.

God doesn’t want us feeling blocked or hindered. He wants to prosper us, and to help us. He can use anything that He desires to heal or release things off us. We just need to remember to keep that faith and trust in Him. No matter what things look like. When we are rooted in His foundation, and in His Word, His Truth, we build that firm Root in Him.
