#double minded #belief #doubt

As I was in prayer the other day, I felt and heard the Lord speaking to me about being double minded. This is something that He wanted me to share with you today.

“You need to stop being double minded. You must pick a side. Either trust God and have faith that He will do what He says, or let that doubt creep in and potentially rob yourself from what God has for you, and what He said He would do. Have faith and trust in what the Lord says. He is the Almighty All-Powerful God.”

What is the Biblical definition of being double minded?

A person who has doubts is thinking about two different things at the same time and can’t make up his mind about anything.

James 1:6-8

But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

Ask With Complete Faith

The Lord had been working with me on this the other night when I was praying, and I was asking Him to help me in a certain situation. I was crying out, praying and asking for His help, when He showed me that only part of me was believing that He would actually come through and do what I was praying for. I still had a good portion of doubt in there that was thinking He would not do anything.

The devil was trying to get in my mind to make me think that my prayers were just words that weren’t going anywhere, and that God wasn’t going to do this for me. It was a literal battle I was having in my mind, going back and forth. I could see what God was revealing to me, but for whatever reason it didn’t completely click until this very time. Right then, I saw how I was being double minded. I was giving the devil more power over God. Why would I want to do that? I certainly didn’t want to be that way. I KNOW that God is the Almighty and He literally steps on the enemy with His feet, and WE as Christians have all authority and power through Jesus Christ to do the same!

Why was I letting myself become weak? I had to overcome it, and Jesus showed me how. He gave me more faith and the strength to overcome it. Do you know why? Because we can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us!

Philippians 4:13

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

God Hears Our Prayers

And guess what? That thing that I was praying so hard about, God came through for me. He was also teaching me at the same time in the most kind and gentle way. I am very grateful that He revealed this to me and corrected me. That is what a loving Father does for His children.

When we go into prayer, we must believe it and expect it. I knew these things before; however, I didn’t realize I still had one foot stuck on the other side in doubt. God does show up for you. It’s truly amazing the way that He works. Unexpected times in unexpected ways. He just loves us so much.

When God says He is going to do something, He means it. He WILL do it. When we pray, we must pray with faith and expectancy that HE WILL answer our prayers. This is what pleases Him.  Expectancy, faith, confidence that our Father loves us so much He will come through for us.

The Lord has been putting it on my heart so heavily that He is ALWAYS with us. He hears everything that we say, what we think, He hears our prayers. He sees everything that we do. There is nothing that gets past Him that He could possibly miss because He is all knowing, all powerful and ever present.

He is Omniscient – All knowing

1John 3:20 – For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought.

He is Omnipotent – All powerful

Isaiah 55:11 – It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

He is Omnipresent – Ever present

Hebrews 4:13 – Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the one to whom we are accountable.

Remove the Doubt

Anytime doubt creeps in, we must take that thought captive, and give it to God. Give it to Him, and allow Him to minister over us, and fill ourselves up by going to His Word, spending time in worship, and in prayer. The amount of time that we spend worrying or in doubt, we could be spending that time with Him, in His presence, where He will fill us with His peace. No doubt. The doubt has to leave. There are prayers we are seeking God for answers, or healing, and if there is any smidge of doubt in there whatsoever that He MIGHT not come through; that mindset must change. That is giving power to the enemy, even though it could be the slightest bit of doubt, it’s still there, and that is being double minded.  You choose the side you want to serve. You are either with Him or against Him. We need to be all in with God. He has our best interest at heart.

God wants our FULL trust in Him! Trust Him with all of our hearts, minds and souls. Everything that we’ve got. Take Him at His word. If He said it, believe it.

Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

If this is something that you struggle with, ask the Lord to remove any doubt in you, reveal to you where it is, and ask Him to help you overcome it. He will meet you where you are at. Just keep going to Him and praying to Him. Be consistent and persistent. He is faithful and true. He hears you. Every word you speak and think. He hears you. Allow Him in. Don’t resist Him, you resist the devil.

James 4:7

So, humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
