The Bread Of Life

The Bread of Life representing Jesus

One evening, back in the Spring, Jesus gave me a revelation. He wanted me to share that with you.

I have four pets, and every day, as I go to prepare their food to feed them, they all look at me and wait with great anticipation and excitement so they can eat. For the past week or so, one of my cats would always run away as soon as I put his dish down for him. I would have to physically run after him, grab him, and place him in his spot where his food is to eat. I had been asking him; why do you keep running away from me when I’m giving you your food? Obviously, he wasn’t going to answer, but I would be very confused. I would also feel sad, because I just didn’t understand why he didn’t want to eat. I knew he was hungry. Even though he sat there waiting for me to place his food out, he still would run away. This was food that he enjoyed, it was something good that he needed for nourishment and energy. Why was he running from it?

The next day, the same thing happened, and as I went after him to grab him, I asked him again; why are you running? Right then, is when I received a revelation from Jesus.

Revelation

He said, “He is running from you while you are trying to give him something good, and he is putting it off until later thinking he will just eat after, when he really needs to eat now. It’s the same way that you and others run from me when I want you to sit with me, or be still, or read your Bible. I run after you, when you run from me; not wanting to read right now, not sitting with me right now, when you say; I will do it later. I just want to give you food.  It’s a good thing. I am the Bread of Life, and I want you to be nourished. You feel sad when your cat runs from you not wanting to eat. I grieve when you run from me not wanting to eat. I want you to be happy, fed, and full.

John 6:35

Then Jesus declared, “I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Jesus can use anything He wants in our lives to get our attention, to give us revelation. This particular time He used my cat. There isn’t anything too big or too small that He can’t use to get our attention, and reveal to us what is on His heart.

This made my heart feel heavy because I don’t want to be running from Him, and I also don’t want to grieve Him because I allow too many distractions in, and don’t sit with Him when I should be. He gave up so much for us. I want to be doing what God wants me to do. I know, we have many things going on, life tends to get in the way. God never intended for us to do it on our own.   But, with God and His strength, we can push through anything. When we put our focus on Him, and we are in His Word, He will bring us through. This is a call to action, that we need to be more diligent about making time for Him.

When Jesus says that He is The Bread of Life, He wants us to know that we need Him, just as we need the air to breathe. He gives us life spiritually, and we cannot survive without Him. Jesus wants us coming to Him all the time. He wants us to set time away for Him. He wants us to make Him our number one, before anything and anyone else. When we run from doing it, due to being too busy from everyday life, or we just don’t feel like doing it right now, putting it off for later, we are depriving ourselves and leaving ourselves spiritually hungry and thirsty.

His heart grieves when we put Him off. He so desires relationship with us. He wants us to come to Him with everything, even though He sees and knows everything, He wants to hear from us. Then, when you finally sit and read in your Bible, you will be fed. When you make time and pray and talk with Him, you will be fed; when you worship, you will be fed. When we keep our eyes on Jesus and what He has to offer, we will never lack anything, and we will always be fed and prepared for what is ahead.

The world does not offer what Jesus has. We will never be fully satisfied just following the ways of the world. There will always be an unexplainable hunger and a thirst for something more. And Jesus provides that for us. He feeds us and quenches our thirst because HE is the Bread of Life. He loves us so much; He wants us to fully experience what He has to offer while we are here on earth.

Submit to Him

You might think you have time, but our time here is so short. Go to Him. Submit to Him. Give Him your time now. Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Yes, He is a loving God, and a patient God, but the sooner we just let go and let Him take over and fill us and feed us, the sooner we get closer to Him; the sooner His desires will change to our desires; the sooner that we can become more like Him; the sooner that everything we do or want to do will be all for Him. There is true transformation that He brings us through, and He will ensure its completion.

Philippians 1:6

He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
